UNITREE is a UNIX-like hierarchical mass storage file system
that was developed to transparently (to the user) store vast
quantities of data in large automated tape silos and other
similar large data library devices. UNITREE
systems greatly extend the capacity of conventional UNIX file
systems, and are capable of supporting data storage
measured in petabytes (a petabyte is
1012 bytes of data).
UNITREE was originally commercialized by DISCOS, a small
intrepreneurial company on the campus of General Atomics
in San Diego, California.
We developed significant enhancements to the system software
and provided related testing and documentation services. We
also participated in due-diligence evaluations of other
company and technology acquisitions after DISCOS was acquired
by OpenVision.
